What You’ll Be Doing:
- Take part in a comprehensive induction and complete all essential training, including safeguarding and the Wales Induction Framework.
- Follow all Salutem policies and procedures to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
- Provide tailored support to children and young people with physical, learning, and health needs.
- Help young people engage in fun and meaningful activities—both during the day and in the evenings/weekends.
- Deliver high-quality personal care while promoting independence and inclusion.
- Understand and respond to individual communication needs.
- Create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment.
- Support young people in achieving their personal goals and outcomes.
- Attend handovers, key worker meetings, and collaborate with colleagues and management.
- Carry out key worker responsibilities, including for those on short breaks.
- Work closely with families, social workers, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure effective communication with schools and external agencies.
- Keep in touch with parents/guardians, sharing relevant updates professionally.
- Be flexible, reliable, and proactive in decision-making and risk assessment.
- Maintain a tidy and welcoming home environment.
- Participate in sleep-in duties as required.
- Take on additional responsibilities as directed by senior staff.
What You’ll Need:
- Registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to register).
- A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent—or a commitment to work towards it.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
